I Need Your Opinions...

My favorite pastime (besides hanging out with Jeffrey and Jacey) is reading and I feel like I've read everything I can think of. And several times! So I just wanted to know what books there were out there that perhaps I haven't read yet, that anyone would recommend. I can't name all the books I've already read, but just so that I don't get recommended a lot of the same books I have read, here are a few. The Twilight series..in fact I just started again for lack of anything else to read. I've read the Harry Potter series, and I've read many church novels and church series like The Work & The Glory, Children of the Promise, Hearts of the Children etc . I also have read many many Mary Higgens Clark books. So besides those, I would love to get some opinions on other good reads out there! It's the perfect hobby for when there is no housework to get done and Jacey is napping. And also for when Jacey goes down to bed at night and Jeffrey is on the computer for long periods of time. If I have something to read, then we don't fight about him spending time on the computer, but if I have nothing to do, I nag him until he gets off and spends time with me. So books are a win/win situation for us! :) Anyway, I hope that someone out there can help me! Looking forward to getting some feedback!

Hey, glad to hear there is another reader in the family. I love to read to and have read a couple of good series.
The Company of Good Women series. The first is "Almost Sisters" by Nancy Anderson, Lael Littke and Carroll Hoffling Morris.
The Women of Genesis series (my fav) by Orson Scott Card the first is "Sarah".
And if you want a good laugh read "Being the Mom" by Emily Watts.
They are all LDS books so you should be able to find all at the LDS Book Store.
Happy Reading!

I LOVED the Twilight series!! glad you read it ;) ummm The Hiding Place was a good one. I have a bit of a fetish for war books so you may not be interested, but Flags of Our Fathers was good. Most by John Grishom are really good ie/ The Client, The Firm, Runaway Jury, A Time to Kill. I really enjoyed them and they can be pretty intense. Good luck. Let me know if you find anything good!

you really have read everything. I love reading the Anne of Green Gables books. Memoirs of a Geisha was good, Jane Austin books, Orson Scott Card writes some really good books about the Women of the Old Testamemt. I highly recomend those. For non-fiction....The Baby whisperer books by Tracy Hogg are excellent, and Dr. Laura " The proper care and feeding of Husbands." That sounds kind of weird....but it is really good.

The Da Vinci code was really good if you haven't read that yet. I was induced with Chantel and they did have to use a vaccum with her...but it was fine. It left no mark. Dallin came out in seconds though so I am not convinced the epidural slows you down. They are so great. I don't even feel them when it goes in. I hope your back gets feeling better. That is so crummy.

Okay so I don't read very much at all. But have you ever heard of cecelia ahern? She's the author of ps. I love you..they made that movie from it.. Anyways, I read her first book years ago and I LOVED it, it's the only book I've read without being able to put it down. It's a small novel, it's just a very different style. It's a cute romance. Anyways, it's called Where Rainbows End, if you feel like reading a cute romance story.

Some I have enjoyed:
Timeline - Michael Crichton
Suzanne's diary for nicholas - James patterson (maybe not a good one to read while pregnant though -definitely a tear jerker)
The five people you meet in heaven - mitch albom
the christmas shoes (actually the whole series) - by Donna vanLiere (another tear jerker)

and in the genre of self help:
happiness is a choice - barry neil kaufman (a really quick read but awesome)
the five love languages - gary chapman

Ahh you've inspired me to get back to reading. it's something I LOVE to do....but don't make the time nearly often enough! let us know what you decide to read and how you like it!!!

Are you looking for mysteries? Fantasy? Non-fiction?
Mystery: I like Agatha Christie books, Mrs. Pollifax books (not sure the author), Ryan's saying the Goosebumps series is great. (He's just kidding) He is suggesting Tom Clancy books though.
You could always look at all the past award winning books (Newbury, Pulitzer, etc.)

5 Love Languages (someone else reccomended) is great. I just finished it and Pat and I took the quiz in the end. We were both surprised by our results and I think it helped me be a better lover :)

I also enjoyed all of the Christmas Box series. I forgot the others name but its a quick read with very touching/inspiring messages. I really liked his book "The Sunflower". they're not all part of a series but they are hard to put down and fast reads.

Tuesdays with Morrie and ALBUM's latest book...forgot the title, were likewise very inspiring and better than the movies.

I LOVE to read too! I have a list of books on my blog (they're listed on the side under 'what I'm reading'). Some I recommend and some I don't. LOL

What about the Host by Stephanie Meyer? It's her new one. It's supposed to be pretty good. Also, The Manifesto Club is pretty good. I haven't got much into it yet...but so far it's decent.

Hey, a long time ago I read a book called the Star Child. I was a young mother at the time and it was one of those ones that I couldn't wait for the kids to be in bed so I could keep reading. It's an easy read by an LDS author and I had borrowed it from one of my mother-in-laws friends. Years later while looking for a book for Amy for Christmas, I try to buy everyone in the family a book for Christmas, I found it at a Deseret Book so I now have my own copy. It was as good the second time as it was the first time. I'd love to send it to you, let me know if you're interested. Love to you and your beautiful family. Dori
